Golden Kamuy - First Impressions
So this post won't be like my last two, a bit more lighthearted and so will some others as I try to get through more of the shows this season and write more.
Now that that's out of the way, I had heard about Golden Kamuy a while back hearing that the manga was getting adapted and one of the first things I heard was concern over how well it would be adapted. I haven't read the manga, but I will say I've enjoyed the first two episodes so far.
One of the things I've liked the most is how much Ainu culture is being shown. Even if it's through a filtered lens, the fact that effort was put into researching and showing that adds some nice depth to the setting and Asirpa. And I don't know about you, but I just plain like learning about other cultures.
The action in this show is also something I appreciate as it doesn't hold back as much as one might expect, and honestly I think if it did, it would downplay Sugimoto's mentality on surviving.
Ok fine, I'll talk about the CG a little. So I actually didn't think it was THAT bad. It was kind of bad, but I also saw some chatter about it long before I watched the first episode so I guess I was already kinda prepared for it. But really I didn't think it was that bad.. it could've been much worse honestly, but that being said, the average CGI in a show still has a ways to go before it stops becoming jarring and takes away from the experience.
Anywho I think I've talked enough about this show already, as of right now it's interesting enough to keep watching so long as I have the time.
